Well servicing system employing sonic energy transmitted down the pipe string
A well servicing system in which sonic energy is transmitted down a pipe string to a down hole work area a substantial distance below the surface. The sonic energy is generated by an orbiting mass oscillator and coupled therefrom to a central stem to which the piston of a cylinder-piston assembly is connected. The cylinder is suspended from a suitable suspension means such as a derrick, with the pipe string being suspended from the cylinder in an in-line relationship therewith. The fluid in the cylinder affords compliant loading for the piston while the fluid provides sufficiently high pressure to handle the load of the pipe string and any pulling force thereon. The sonic energy is coupled to the pipe string in a longitudinal vibration mode which tends to maintain this energy along the string.

Developing and Implementing a Failure Analysis Process to Optimize Well Servicing Operations
Breakthrough cost reductions can be achieved through the use of an effective failure analysis and control process. In 1995, CalResources designed and implemented a root cause failure analysis process for well servicing operations. Important elements of the process include : a structured process flow, a six-step failure analysis model, tools for failure control (databases of well failure codes and pump details, pump application tables, well servicing economics), and meaningful tracking measures with targets. This process has been a key strategy to reduce expenses and increase equipment run time : 1) well pulls decreased by 33% from the previous year, 2) repeat pulls decreased by 42%, 3) well servicing expenses decreased by 16%, and 4) producer runtime increased by 15.5%. Process implementation was achieved through operator empowerment and buy-in. Empowerment was developed through knowledge ; with formal and informal sessions serving as forums for continuous training, practice, and feedback. This paper outlines the elements of the failure analysis process developed, and discusses the implementation steps that made it successful.

Development of blocking hydrophobic-emulsion composition at well killing before well servicing
In modern conditions reduction of volumes oil recovery and steady growth of the cost price of its extraction demands other approach to a choice of type, technological parameters and ecological cleanliness used well killing fluid. Reception importance from each well of the maximal feedback does not allow to apply such structures which cause deterioration work’s parameters of wells and reservoir properties of bottom-hole formation zone. In the article results of the blocking hydrophobic-emulsion compositions development laboratory investigations are shown. The material is used to keep filtration characteristics of a formation pay zone during well killing before well servicing. [Mardashov D.V., Rogachev M.K. Well killing and stimulation at oil well servicing with hydrophobic emulsion compositions
Experience of oil field development indicates that during processes of well killing, as well as during their exploitation filtration characteristics of the bottomhole formation zone deteriorate gradually. The cause of this process is the use of water-based process fluids, which are most widely used at this stage of evolution of the oil industry. Alternative systems in this respect are hydrocarbon-based compositions, namely hydrophobic emulsions. This article presents results of laboratory studies and field tests of new technologies of well killing and stimulation of oil wells in well servicing using hydrophobic emulsions under field development conditions in Western Siberia. These technologies allow conserving, remediating and enhancing filtration characteristics of bottomhole formation zone during well servicing. [Mardashov D.V., Rogachev M.K. Well killing and stimulation at oil well servicing with hydrophobic emulsion compositions. Life Sci J 2014;11(6s):286-288] (ISSN:1097-8135). http://www.lifesciencesite.com. 55

Development of a fluid-power intensifier pump for oil and gas well servicing -- a unification of resources
In today's oil and gas production, the three principal activities of completion, well servicing, and workover, require fluid transfer at high fluid pressures to perform those operations necessary to enhance economic recovery. To generate these high pressures and to avoid the pressure pulsations inherent in the conventional duplex and triplex pump designs, the use of long stroke intensifier pumps is increasing. This paper discusses the basis of one company's design philosophy in providing a system with a decidedly competitive edge through the use of the long stroke fluid power intensifier pump. In the course of solving the problems that arose, a unique patentable product was developed.

Fluid for well servicing
FIELD: gas industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fluid medium for servicing gas, geothermal, coal bedded methane wells or oil deposits. Maintenance of well shaft involves mixing agent for reduction of friction, anionic surfactant, cationic surfactant and water basis to form viscoelastic gel based on water, adding to borehole fluid for well servicing, containing viscoelastic gel based on water, where agent for reduction of friction contains at least one high-molecular polymer link selected from groups of polyacrylamide, acrylate groups, sulfo groups and groups of maleic acid, and water-based gel contains anionic surfactant and cationic surfactant and where concentration of agent for reduction of friction makes 0.06 kg/m 3 (0.5 pound/1,000 gallons) or less in terms of whole fluid for well servicing. EFFECT: technical result is high efficiency of processing. 13 cl, 14 dwg

Pressure on the well servicing market
While the well servicing and workover (ws/wo) market is extremely strong and is expected to grow even stronger in the foreseeable future, several pressures are affecting the overall market. These pressures include (1) uncertainty about crude oil prices that is forcing operators to reconsider some marginal ws/wo prospects; (2) demand for oil and gas in future periods; (3) effect of current rate of rig building; and (4) changing requirements of producers. This discussion evaluates the probable effects of possible changes in each of these areas.

Talent Management and Competitiveness of Oil Drilling and Well Servicing Companies in Rivers State
This paper examined the relationship between talent management and competitiveness in oil drilling and well servicing companies in Rivers State. Data was gathered from 36 top and middle level managers of the aforementioned companies through a well-structured questionnaire and was analyzed using univariate and bi-variate analytical tools such as the mean score and the Spearman rank order correlation coefficient to test the study hypotheses. The analysis of this paper was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences and after analyses, the results revealed that talent management is positively and significantly correlated with competitiveness in terms of flexibility and innovation. Thus it was concluded that talent management is a precursor to competitiveness and it was therefore recommended among other things that oil drilling and well servicing companies should put more emphasis on the human capital approach to gain competitive advantage in their industry because ‘human capital’ represents an inimitable asset of any organization.

Well completion and workover. Part 6. Well servicing fluid
Completion or workover fluids (well servicing fluids) are those that are placed against the producing formation while well killing, cleaning out, plugging back, stimulating or perforating. Guidelines for selection of well servicing fluids in order to minimize the possibility of outflow well-bore damage are supplied. Environmental considerations are given as location, bottomhole pressure, temperatures (bottomhole and surface), and characteristics of formation rocks and fluids to be encountered. The availability and cost of obtaining and preparing the fluids also must be considered. Objectives of well servicing are ranked in priority as an additional aid to selection. Resource, operating, and formation constraints upon the various fluids available for use also are discussed. The procedure recommended is to obtain an appropriate, clean source of well servicing fluid; test it under actual operating conditions; prepare and/or store it for application; and maintain and apply it under recommended practice guidelines.
