The lack of valid, research-based methods to identify potential artistic talent hampers the inclusion of the arts in programs for the gifted and talented. The Talent Assessment Process in Dance, Music, and Theater (D/M/T TAP) was designed to identify potential performing arts talent in diverse populations, including bilingual and special education students and students who have had no prior formal arts instruction. Research results over 13 years in elementary schools in New York and Ohio provide evidence that creative and artistic potential can be assessed validly and equitably and that such assessments can offer a reliable prediction of success in rigorous arts instruction.

Applying fuzzy analytic hierarchy process in the managerial talent assessment model - an empirical study in Taiwan's semiconductor industry
This study aims to establish a new managerial talent assessment model for the assessors of the IC packaging industry in Taiwan. The Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) method, with the capability of obtaining information in more systematic and efficient ways, contributes to the effectiveness of evaluating and managing relevant managerial competence activities. Borda function, FAHP method, fuzzy Delphi method and questionnaire survey were used in the study. Meanwhile, an empirical study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of the FAHP in the managerial talent assessment model, which aims to improve the quality of the decision making, and to be referred to further managerial talent-related activities.

Talent assessment in software development firms
Developing talents in a firm starts by the acquisition of the right candidates. The firm should have a well-defined process to acquire highly talented people. Software development companies constantly look for fresh graduates for strategic and economic reasons. Fresh graduates usually require intensive training to pick up on the pace of the new job requirements. Several software development companies started conducting in-house training for carefully selected candidates who passed a comprehensive placement test followed by a technical interview. At the end of this training, only highly qualified trainees will be hired for full time positions. In this paper, we present a number of methods for talent assessment in software development companies followed by a questionnaire completed by 11 software engineers in a software company in Jordan.

An Interview with Geoffrey Moon: The Frasier Talent Assessment Profile 2
NAJP: Currently there are only two alternative protocols (DISCOVER assessment and the Frasier Talent Assessment Profile; FTAP) which have been approved for New Mexico public schools to evaluate students who have been determined to have socioeconomic disadvantages, disabilities, cultural differencces, or language barriers that would interfere with their ability to perform on individually administered tests. Are there other alternative protocols which have been used in the past or are there any other possible protocols that could also be considered in the future that might also accomplish this task? GM: Reduced cutoff scores on verbal or full-scale IQ tests, purely nonverbal reasoning tasks, multiple criteria, portfolio review, and locally normed IQ tests were used prior to the FTAP and DISCOVER. Performance tasks, biographical inventories, and grade review were all parts of the FTAP that have now been deprecated. The future could bring some kind of radically different, much better test, but the lesson of the last few decades of gifted identification has been that as no one test is perfect, and gifted students have a range of profiles, multiple data points must be considered. NAJP: What are the necessary criteria for a protocol to be considered to evaluate students who have been determined to have these factors? GM: The protocol needs to find students who have high intellectual potential as compared to students with similar backgrounds. Success is ultimately measured by comparing the proportions of students from various backgrounds who are qualified by the protocol, and by whether the protocol-identified students develop in a way that reflects intellectual potential. NAJP: Are there determination guidelines for making decisions about which students are allowed to qualify for gifted education services through the usage of alternative protocols? (For example, what are the cutoff points for socioeconomic disadvantage? What disabilities will be allowed? How are cultural differences determined?) GM: New Mexico Rules, or Administrative Code, empower the user of the alternate protocol to make that determination. Since the risks involved in identifying a student for gifted education and talent development are low, and the risks involved in failing to identify are comparatively high, I think a relatively small burden of proof should be applied. NAJP: Is the determination of any given factor subjective or objective? GM: They are all subject to the decision of the protocol administrator. For FTAP users, I suggest use of a two-tier system for determining Cultural, Linguistic, and Economic Disadvantage or Disability (CLEDD). In stage one, the student's school records are researched for flags, such as home language other than English and ELL status (language differences), race/ethnicity (potential cultural differences), free or reduced lunch qualification (economic differences), and section 504 or IDEA qualification (disability). In stage two, qualitative data, primarily from a parent questionnaire, are reviewed for signs like lack of parental education, home stress, and lack of exposure to language, which may indicate the student has had a reduced opportunity to learn. NAJP: Who will need to be trained in the usage of the FTAP? GM: Anyone wishing to use the process must be trained. Only licensed educators or psychological/diagnostic professionals can participate in the administration of the process, though anyone in New Mexico can refer a student for testing. It is recommended that all school staff receive some training in the nature and needs of gifted students, the differences in gifted students with CLEDD, and the identification process. For a new FTAP evaluator, it takes three working days or about 20 hours. After one year, a one-day follow-up. After that, one day every three years. NAJP: How many school personnel are needed to conduct the FTAP? …

Application Status and Development of Rorschach Ink-Bolt Test in Talent Assessment
Background: Enterprises tend to adopt the current structured psychological scale when the psychological assessments on the employees are in process. However, due to various reasons, the assessed persons generally fail to give the reliable answers and personality performance in several situations, which leads to the inaccuracy of the final decisions of the enterprises in terms of human resource management. Research process: After reviewing the development and current status of the Rorschach Ink-Bolt Test (RIT), as well as taking into account the characteristics of talent assessment, this research demonstrated the principle, the scoring systems and the application features of RIT and analyzed the reliability and validity, in the talent assessment, of such a test. Furthermore, this research is dedicated to a vision and hypothesis about the application of RIT in the talent assessment area in respects of the research pattern, group tests and scoring codes. Conclusions: the application of RIT in talent assessment is an important topic worthy of being studied.

A Talent Assessment Model Based on Learning Behaviors and Patterns
Talent assessment is an important topic in various areas like enterprise management, education, and psychology. However, it is also a challenging topic as the conventional assessment methods and models are unsuitable for talent assessment due to the following two aspects: (i) domain-dependent. The assessment of talent is highly depended on a specific domain which requires a large volume of domain knowledge in the assessment model; and (ii) behavior-based (or pattern-based). The characteristics of talents are reflected by a wide range of factors like their behaviors (patterns), emotions, self-identities, and metacognition. In this paper, we propose a talent assessment model based on online learning behaviors and patterns by using fuzzy models. Specifically, we attempt to develop a talent assessment model by identifying their learning data as we believe that the learning behaviors in the online learning platforms like massive open online courses (MOOCs) can reflect some characteristics of talents. Furthermore, we discuss what are the data sources, the learning behaviors and the potential computational methods in this assessment model in details. In addition, the potential limitations and possible improvement plans are introduced.
