Recent research shows landscape installation is a fast growing and profitable segment of the horticulture industry. To meet this growing demand, the industry needs employees who have a skill set that integrates technical knowledge, practical application and creative problem solving. A landscape construction course that incorporates a variety of studentcentered teaching methods including case studies, a small group project, and role playing exercises, was created to help students further their problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills. By incorporating principles from Bloom's Taxonomy in the course, studentsmoved from lower order to higher order thinking skills within a given exercise and across the topics taught during the semester. Computer modeling and visualization of forest landscapes recently has become a hot topic of research in the fields such as ecology, forest management, physical geography and botany. We reviewed multi-scale forest modeling and visualization and related rendering techniques. The principle and a technological framework of information management oriented virtual forest landscape construction are proposed, which integrate an interactive 3D subsystem with a GIS-based 2D forest resource management subsystem, taking Zhangpu County forest in Fujian Province as a pilot study. The system has capability for individual tree modeling, realistic forest stand 3D scene construction, and navigation, interactive information query, analysis, and simulation of the forest growth under the conditions of tree competition and thinning in 3D environment. In addition, future works are discussed in conclusion.

Strong linkages among 2-year community colleges and 4year universities are likely to foster the transition of more students into higher education and enhance student diversity. The urban green system constitutes the urban ecological infrastructure and plays a vital role in the healthy development of urban. This study, using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) models, taking provinces in China as unit, has made analysis and thus carried out a classification of the landscape construction level of provinces in china from a macroscopic view. The results show that the provincial landscape construction level is positively correlated with the economic development level. But due to the big difference of landscape construction level of each province, enough importance should be attached. The AHP-TOPSIS model has good discrimination in the evaluation on China’s provincial landscape construction level and it is also applicable to the evaluation and classification of urban landscape construction level among different cities.

The world′s population is becoming urbanized as people migrate to the cities.It is expected that most urban growth will occur in less developed countries during the next decades.One of the major effects of rapid urban growth is "urban sprawl" that increases traffic,saps local resources and destroys open space.Urban sprawl is responsible for changes in the physical environment,and the form as well as spatial organization of cities.Urban ecosystems not only provide recreational and aesthetic values,but tangible benefits of clean air and water,conservation and reuse of natural resources,increased biodiversity,and other products that increase the livability of our communities.Creating sustainable urban ecosystems involves optimizing landscape constructions based on considerations that are ecological and social.The main goal of urban planning is to make all amenities and comforts available to the public without imposing many negative effects on society and environment,referred to as "sustainable growth".Therefore,urban ecological landscape is drawing wide attention.Developing ecological landscapes will be capable of contributing to the advancement of technological and scientific solutions that can address the grand challenges of urbanization.However,there are lots of problems in existing urban ecological projects owing to lack of uniform guidelines and evaluation indicators of ecological landscapes.Therefore,it is important to build evaluation indicators used to guide urban ecological landscape construction.This paper reviews the progresses of ecological landscape research and summarizes the essential characteristics of urban ecological landscapes.Ecological landscape can be defined as an anthropogenic or managed landscape with deliberate form of human intervention,and with careful protection to improve natural conditions or repair environmentally destructive impacts.Among various features of urban ecological landscapes in related references,three basic merits are summarized in this study including sustainability,ecological-economic benefits,and harmoniousness.According to reviews on related references,we formulate eight guidelines and corresponding evaluation indicators of urban landscape design.Eight guidelines include natural grades of landscapes,species diversity and security,rainwater collection and management,contamination effluent and treatment,green materials and products,microclimate regulation,visual enjoyment of landscapes,and spiritual and cultural values.Moreover,we collect 170 questionnaires concerning people′s understanding and preferences of urban ecological landscapes.After analyzing these questionnaires,we analyzed the status and issues of urban ecological landscape constructions.The weight values of evaluation indicators are also quantified using public questionnaire surveys.This study could provide some insights to integrate architecture,engineering and planning perspectives to focus on adaptive,ecological and resilient urban planning and design.

This paper glides over the necessity of understand the monuments into a spatial defined social arena context. Thus, through its contextualization as links between past and present, as memory guarantors, they will share in different space managements, landscape construction and territorial legitimacy strategies. In this sense, we will centralize our attention on mortuary monuments in order to show a run across the differents theorical positions that interpret the nature and sense of architecture in archaeology. So, we will consider an association among human groups and territory, and we will checking different points of view about the mode in which the monuments acquire their special leading role in the construction and representation of identity, legitimacy and time-spatial borders into their constructor human group and culture.

The purpose of this study was to analyze on changes of ready constructed record(RCR) in landscape construction industry for 10 years from 1997 to 2006. For the study, according to the classification system of Korea construction industry, landscape construction industry were classified into landscape constructor as a general constructor, landscape planting constructor and landscape facilities constructor as special constructors. The results are as follows: 1. The RCR in landscape construction industry have increased for 10 years higher than other construction industry. Concretely the RCR ratio of landscape constructor has increased 0.9% in 1997 to 1.9% in 2006, the RCR ratio of landscape planting constructor 1.3% to 2.5%, and the RCR ratio of landscape facilities constructor 0.5% to 1.5%. Futhermore this increasing trend has been strengthened during the last a few years. 2. Differently from landscape constructor, the subcontract ratio of landscape planting constructor and landscape facilities constructor were higher, especially landscape facilities constructor was highest amount for 71.1% in the subcontract ratio. 3. The RCR of landscape construction industry in the metropolitan area including Seoul, Kyunggi, was higher than other region's, and the ratio of RCR of landscape constructor in this area was 53.5%, landscape planting constructor's 58.2%, and landscape facilities constructor 75.0%. 4. The yearly RCR per company and the RCR by project of landscape constructor and landscape planting constructor were stagnant. However, landscape facilities constructor's RCR showed an upward trend as years go by. This study was focused on the RCR of landscape construction industry, further study on the factors to affect the RCR of landscape construction industry and the RCR by project types is required in the near future.
