A method for automatically converting print jobs stored in printshop job description language (PSDL) files into workflow for a specific printshop is disclosed. A print job stored in a PSDL file is extracted from the PSDL file and used to generate a proposed workflow and accompanying job cost estimate. The workflow generated by the illustrated embodiment merges the job resource requirements of the print job with the resource and material availability of the printshop. The generated workflow and an accompanying job cost estimate for producing the workflow in the printshop are transmitted to the original job submitter for approval prior to beginning the printing process. Alternately, the job submitter is capable of submitting the print job in PSDL format to a printshop via the Internet.

Delegation in Long-term Care: Scope of practice or job description?
This study is a qualitative, descriptive study of how registered nurses (RNs) (N=33) in leadership roles in institutionalized long-term care settings delegate care, including their strategies and processes for delegating care, and their perceptions of barriers to effective delegation and potential benefits of delegation. Findings indicate two key approaches to delegation, including the "follow the job description" approach, emphasizing adherence to facility-level roles and job descriptions, and the "consider the scope of practice" approach, emphasizing consideration of multiple aspects of scope of practice and licensure, and the context of care. While the former resulted in more clarity and certainty for the RN, the latter facilitated a focus on quality of resident care outcomes as linked to the delegation process. Barriers to effective delegation were comparable among RNs using either approach to delegation, and almost all RNs could describe benefits of delegation for long-term care.

Nonphysician Medical Educators: A Literature Review and Job Description Resource
Purpose Designing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality, relevant education for physicians is of great importance. The purpose of this study was to describe the historical development of nonphysician medical educators, including health care professionals working in this role, and to develop a job description resource. Method In 2007, the authors conducted a historical content analysis and literature review to identify resources relevant to the early historical development of nonphysician medical educators. Also in 2007, they carried out a thorough review of the English-language literature, 1950–2007, to describe nonphysician health care professionals working as medical educators. To investigate job descriptions, the authors studied job boards of associations and medical education listservs, July 2006 to November 2007. Results Nonphysician educators have participated effectively in physicians’ learning for more than 80 years. Their popularity has grown exponentially in the last 15 years, as have the numbers of master’s-in-medical-education degree programs. The nonphysician medical educator can provide essential help to the overtaxed physician educator in many facets of the educational process, such as educational theory; curriculum design, validation, and evaluation; clinical instruction; and medical education research. The study of job descriptions yielded 237 distinctly different duties in 17 categories. Conclusions The nonphysician medical educator will never replace the physician educator. However, as team training, interdisciplinary education, and the general competencies become the norm, the need for the nonphysician medical educator will increase. The authors believe the use of nonphysician medical educators offers a way to improve the quality of physician clinical education while controlling costs. They also recommend areas for future research.

Development of Job Description of Clinical Dietitians in Hospitals by the DACUM Method
The present study was conducted to develop a standardized job description for clinical dietitians working in hospitals. A developing curriculum (DACUM) method was used for the job analysis of clinical dietitians. Based on DACUM analysis with 14 members, including clinical dietitians and professors majoring in clinical nutrition and job analysis, information on the duties, tasks, and task elements of clinical dietitians was determined. To verify the job descriptions derived from DACUM analysis, a total of 46 tertiary and general hospitals with over 500 beds were recruited for the survey. The final developed job description for clinical dietitians included 7 duties, 27 tasks, and 93 task elements. The duties consisted of nutritional assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention, nutrition monitoring·evaluation, consultation·cooperation, nutrition research, and self-development. The mean scores of per- ceived importance, performance, and difficulty on the clinical dietitian's task elements (out of a maximum score of 5.0) were 4.5, 3.7, and 3.5, respectively, with significant differences between the items (P<0.001). The perceived importance and performance grid of clinical dietitian's tasks showed that "construction and maintenance of collabo- ration" (E2) and "activity of quality improvement" (F1) received relatively low scores for performance despite their high importance scores; thus the performance of these tasks requires significant improvement. In conclusion, the job descriptions of clinical dietitians developed from this study are useful for the qualitative improvement of clinical nutrition services in hospitals.

Harnessing the power of the job description
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to show managers can effectively utilize a job description throughout an employee's tenure. Typically, a job description is used in the hiring process. However, a job description can be utilized in recruiting and selection, compensation, evaluation, training and development, health and safety, and succession planning. Design/methodology/approach The author approached the use of a job description from a manager’s perspective. Using both existing literature and conceptual usage of a job description, the author provides a potential use of a job description to improve the human resource competitiveness of an organization. Findings If utilized throughout the life of employment, a job description is a powerful tool that can aid managers. Managers have a road map that can help them with their duties of planning, leading, organizing, controlling and staffing. With a road map, the complexities of management become easier. Research Limitations/implications The limitations involve actual data that prove the effectiveness of the job description. Most of the information provided in the article is theoretical but potentially provides practical information for practitioners. Practical implications The article provides a practical application of the use of a job description. The information provided can be utilized immediately by practitioners. Specifically, inexperienced managers can use the job description as a road map for supervising an employee through the employment relationship. Social implications Unfortunately, there are very little social implications. However, whenever organizations can improve their relationships with their employees, society will surely benefit. Originality/value The article presented involves pieces of previous works, but to date, the author could not find another example of the total use of the job description through the employment relationship. Task Analysis of the Job Description of Rehabilitation Nurse based on DACUM
Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop and to analyze the duty and the task of rehabilitation nurse in Korea. Method: The definition of rehabilitation nurse and job description was developed based on developing curriculum(DACUM) by panels who have experienced in DACUM analysis and rehabilitation nursing. 228 nurses who were working at rehabilitation centers and rehabilitation unit in general hospitals were participated. The questionnaire included frequency, importance, and difficulty of duties and tasks. The data were collected in March and April 2009, analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results: The job description of rehabilitation nurse in Korea revealed 11 duties, and 61 tasks. On the all 11 duties, the highest duty in frequency and importance was direct nursing care (, ) and the highest duty in difficulty was self-development (). Among the tasks of duties 'direct nursing care' in 'manage medication' () in frequency, the task 'prevent and manage bedsore' () of duty 'direct nursing care' in importance, and 'cope emergency situations' () of duty direct nursing care in difficulty showed the highest degree. Conclusion: The political efforts for the legislation of role and task of rehabilitation nurse were needed.
