Quality over Quantity. “Son of Quora” is just an homage to fantasy/mythological literature. My newsletter. If you like my writing, I’d love your support on Quora+. And look, I get it, paywalls are annoying. Just know this: Earnings are directly distributed to the writers. Joining allows people like me to continue doing what I love, writing and working to get better at my craft. My goal is always to tell stories while also sharing information that is factually sound and beneficial to your life. You have my promise that I’ll continue to uphold that standard and improve upon it. And to those who have already joined, thank you. Also—I can’t read and reply to every comment. But if I upvote your comment, it means I read the comment and liked it :)

I write news and behind-the-scenes stories about movies, series, and celebrities. From time to time I write about something that actually matters.

URGENT: anyone who has been trying to contact me by email, e.g. for Tarot readings, please note that my email comes via Plusnet and Plusnet’s email server is buggered. As at 12th Nov 2021 it’s been down for two days. Plusnet is trying to fix it but there are still Plusnet customers who can’t log in, and I’m one of them. Normal service will be resumed eventually, and meanwhile, no I’m not ignoring you. *********************************************************************************** Owing to Quora's poor layout, many people get confused and think that the person who answered a question, asked it. Several years ago, I answered a particularly inane question about evolution, and some moron thought that I had asked it, turned me into a meme and posted it on the net to show everyone how *stupid* I was. I thought I had corrected this, but it has recently resurfaced. Some of the instances are associated with customer support to whom I have complained, or with report forms, but not all. One of them cut me off halfway through posting a rebuttal, because it has an unannounced length limit, and won’t let me finish the post. So, I would appreciate it if as many as possible of my 32,000+ followers would go here https://9gag.com/gag/avODV6b and comment on the meme itself, and on all the people who have commented underneath gloating over my supposed stupidity, telling them that I answered the question rather than asked it, and also that if it isn't taken down promptly, or edited to remove my name. photo’ and details, I will sue the poster for libel. *********************************************************************************** Please note, anyone who wishes to message me - I am receiving multiple bogus messages every day, and there seems to be no way to delete messages except by blocking the sender, so I will have to block anyone who sends me a message that seems to be from a bot. I don’t like doing it in case I accidentally block a genuine contact, but the messages feature is becoming unusable. If you are a new contact and you wish to message me, please include some text which makes it clear you are a real person who has read my content. Any messages which just say “Hi” or “Will you be my friend” or “You’re so beautiful” will be blocked. *********************************************************************************** I ’ ve set up a page from which to do Tarot readings - :: Imaginary Mongoose Tarot :: I'm going to try to raise enough money from Tarot to get driving lessons, as a driving licence would hugely improve my chances of finding a job, even at my age. *********************************************************************************** I’ve been many things in my time, including a programmer for the NHS, the Publicity Officer of the Raoul Wallenberg Committee in London, secretary to the Defence Desk at The Daily Telegraph, the owner and manager of a small Celtic/pagan witchy shop and a professional maker of wargame figures (although the firm I was working for, Jacobite Miniatures, went bust after I’d made them one figure). I’m a practising witch and Tarot reader with a degree in Biological Science (the best clairvoyant I know has a PhD in cell-surface chemistry), and I seem to have become the go-to person on Quora for explaining evolution to Creationists. I’ve been active in British SF and fantasy fandom since 1981 and writing fanfiction (nowadays mainly Harry Potter-based, under the netnicks whitehound and Borolin) since about 1985. I’ve won a couple of quite prestigious awards for poetry and am currently working on a book about my father’s adoptive family - especially his mother, who started out as Ethel Maud Shirran, a shorthand typist in Edinburgh in 1922, and finished up as the Kazini Elisa Maria Dorgi Khangsarpa of Sikkim. You can read all about it, and my fanfiction, at 3ws dot whitehound dot co dot uk Owing to the death in 2018 of my mother, whose carer I was, and the fact that I’ve been either a carer or a self-employed shop-owner since 2001, I’ve been left struggling to make money from freelance work, since I am so close to retirement age that it’s not worth anyone’s trouble to re-train me (not to mention spending most of 2019 with cataracts, and most of 2020 with Long COVID). My long-term plan is to do a biology blog which with any luck will generate enough hits to enable me to sell advertising. I’m hoping to raise enough from the blog to buy a 3D scanner (£2,000 - ouch) so I can get back to making wargame and dolls’ house figures.

I like to write. All answers I have written, you may copy, you may use any lines you enjoy, you may copy, paste, share, translate, publish at your leisure — just credit me by name, is all. It’s the bare minimum a decent person would do. Who am I? Just, somebody who likes to write. It’s really not that complicated. I exist, you exist, we all exist. Just briefly. And my brief existence, I dedicate to writing enjoyable little things for no one in particular.

All of my content on Quora is free. If you see something of mine shared behind a paywall, I did not authorize its use. If you are unable to read it and wish to, PM me. I'm a professional journalist with 27 years of experience in that profession, and an amateur (and self-educated) history buff and computer engineer. In fact, those are subjects I prefer to write about, along with talking about my miracle wife Kayrenne Walker , but I usually end up discussing politics here. My political views are mostly libertarian, civic-nationalist and American federalist. I am a never-Trumper, but also never a Democrat. I’m 48 years old, a resident of North Carolina for the last 33 years, and a non-denominational, non-literalist Christian who has answered many questions on the subject. I am presently doing a combination of journalistic and media relations work, and have been since the late winter of 2020, around the time the COVID stuff began. I joined Quora sometime in late 2014 and first became prominent here in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, where I endorsed the Libertarians. I was frustrated and borderline disgusted with Quora's policies for quite some time, but I made my peace with it and they seemed to have made their peace with me. I guess driving 132 million views of Web traffic will do that for you. At one point I tried to leave and was talked out of it. I said my last words on the matter here: On TW’s, Mods and Mötley . If you're interested in my political views in a nutshell, read these three posts: John Cate's answer to If you were elected president of the U.S. what would be the most important issue to deal with first? John Cate's answer to What's your most controversial political opinion? John Cate's answer to Is direct democracy the only kind of democracy or is the form of government in the United States also a kind of democracy? (Explains why the USA is NOT a democracy, and why you should be glad it is not.) As far as the section here where it asks you what you know about, I'll leave that to my readers to decide. A member of the “Million Upvote Club” as of 2 July 2018: John Cate's answer to Are you in the million upvote club? Now close to four million. And as of June 2020, the 28th most-viewed active member in the site’s history. Haven’t seen a ranking since then. My mother’s family were farmers in North Dallas. I spent my early life In a rural environment. We were in close proximity to one of the black communities in Dallas. I saw first hand the prejudices that existed in some but also saw examples of how black and whites were to live together. I saw my grandmother take food to black families when someone was sick or a loved one died. I also witnessed the compassion of the black community when a younger cousin of mine died unexpectedly and all the members who came by to comfort our family. I was able to attend college at Texas A&M. I knew I wanted to go to law school so I loaded up on the hours and graduated in three years. I was fortunate enough to graduate #1 in my business class. I learned a tremendous amount about use of time, how not to waste time, and how to focus and get things done. I immediately went into law school after graduation. To say I was in for a shock was and understatement. The amount of work required was enormous. I studied more my first semester than all my time at A&M. And then I started working at law firms. It was the practical experience that made everything I was being taught come together. I worked all three years. Got married my last year and was fortunate to graduate near the top of my class. I have spent 43 years handling trial and appeals all over the country. A lot of my time has been spent on constitutional litigation. During this time I have learned so much about the nature of people and how they respond. I have grown to love the jury system and have seen in most cases they get it right. I head foundations doing work in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. It has been eye opening. I have experienced first hand the problems with socialized medicine. I have seen the waits for care and the substandard care given to people who cannot pay to go to the front of the line. I have seen first hand the impact of Communism on a people and a country.

Many Quorans over the years have suggested I write a book, so I have. It’s a novel, set in Boston, called “Calf Pasture Pumping Station”. If you’d like to try it, consider Amazon.com: jay bazzinotti . If you like it, pass it on or share the link with someone else. Quora does not allow shilling in the answers so I am doing the dirty work here in the bio. Let me know what you think!

I cannot keep up. I just can’t. If I miss your comment or question please forgive me. It isn’t intentional. Please do not contact me off Quora looking for free advice or help. Ask your questions here and if I feel I can answer them, I will. If you are looking for a referral please message me here or email me through my website. If you want to know more about me, look at my website jlellis.net. Most of the questions I answer involve law. Some of the questions I answer involve societal issues. Especially issues related to being gay or personal relationships. I also answer questions about careers, social media and online marketing. I can be Dear Abbyish...with an edge. Please don’t yell at me because you don’t like the law. Go yell at the people who passed it. Not legal advice I am an attorney, licensed in Pennsylvania, and so my answers are likely to be based on Pennsylvania law. I am not currently practicing law. When I do practice law, my focus is legal ethics. No answers I provide are legal advice and nothing I write forms an attorney/client relationship between me and anyone who reads my answers or communicates with me through Quora.

Retired police officer and criminal justice college professor, now writing on applications of technology in law enforcement and corrections. I have comments on my answers turned off because of troll fatigue. If people were more courteous and less pedantic, I might go back to allowing comments. However, I don’t see that happening. If you ask me to answer a question that already has numerous answers, I’ll likely pass. There’s no point in restating what someone else has said already. Before you post a question you want to me to answer, do a brief search to see if it’s already been asked and answered. Variations of “How do I join the FBI? “ and “How do I become a detective?” are especially repetitive. If you ask me a question or upvote one of my answers and I see that you have created your account with a clearly made-up name, I will ignore your request. I used to report made-up screen names, but Quora has decided to allow these now. That doesn’t mean I have to go along with it.

If you ask me a question or upvote one of my answers and I see that you have created your account with a clearly made-up name, I will ignore your request. I used to report made-up screen names, but Quora has decided to allow these now. That doesn’t mean I have to go along with it.

I watched power at close hold in Moscow. For you guys, I can explain Russia, the USSR, and Communism. My past in propaganda has taught me to quickly dissect the stories those in power are feeding to the world. I was trained to explain complicated things in a matter of a few minutes. Also, I’m a racer at writing, so you better stay tuned and follow me up! You won’t be disappointed. Below, me wearing white pants in the service of Soviet propaganda at the porch of my Scandinavian office in the late 1980s. More about Dima Vorobiev . P.S. I’m swamped in requests. Thanks to all who care to ask, and apologies to everyone who didn’t get my response. Be sure that if I have a good answer for you, I ‘ll always share.
